In his first season Gayle Sayers burst right on to the scene winning the NFL Rookie of the Year, while establishing a new NFL record with 22 Touchdowns during the season. The record season, and his entire career would be highlighted by a 6 Touchdown performance against the Snag Francisco 49ers on December 12th at Wrigley Field. With the help of Sayers the Bears would go on to finish in 3rd place with a 9-4-1 record.
