Heartley "Hunk" William Anderson was a college football coach at NC State, and Notre Dame. From 1931 to 1933, he served as the head football coach at Notre Dame, and compiled a 16-9-2 record. From 1934 to 1936, he coached at NC State, where he compiled an 11-17-1 record.

From 1918 to 1921, he was an offensive guard for the Notre Dame football team, under coach Knute Rockne. From 1922 to 1926, he played for the Chicago Bears. In 1939, he coached for the Detroit Lions.

He was born in Tamarack City, Michigan, attended Calumet High School and played college football from 1918-1921. He was 5'11" and weighed 170 lbs. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1974.
